Students in the TMS STEM program take accelerated math, grade level science, and a technology course that is in addition to their connections classes that may also include business education and technology. STEM classes are arranged in the schedule so that technology, math, and science all happen sequentially, to allow for blocking of class periods if longer periods are required. Some projects require Cohort members to visit the TMS STEM Lab and/or the TMS Innovation Lab on a daily basis while other projects will only require periodic visits. The STEM curriculum is unique because each grade level has their own set of PBLs and design challenges based on STEM competitions, industry connections, and community issues.
In each year of the program, STEM students will take the following courses:
Grade 6
• Earth Science
• Accelerated Math 6/7a
• Exploring Engineering and Technology
Grade 7
